Youth Alive Ministries offers children and youth exciting programs that caters for various age groups (7 - 35 years old). We have three programs: Discipleship, Leadership Training & Development and Community Outreach.
Discipleship has been at the core of Youth Alive’s work for the past 60 years with the purpose of character development and evangelism of many young people.
This is a specialized program that is designed to help our youth to learn leadership skills and techniques, refine existing skills, assist with effective and assertive communication and coaching.
Reaching out to our community.
Each club is run by its respective leaders on different days and times. A leadership team is trained to facilitate programs for Seniors, Astros & Juniors and Young Adults. These positions are occupied by the volunteer leaders.
We run annual camps (in December) for all the age groups. The camp’s objectives are to: provide an outdoor experience; facilitate spiritual growth; develop interpersonal skills; provide a holiday, particularly for the most disadvantaged young people.
Seminars are aimed at empowerment and enrichment of boy-girl child to deal with challenges of development and family dynamics.
Youth Alive runs Holiday Clubs (HC) which include bible lessons, moral teaching, games, singing and dancing for the Astros and juniors during the June and September school holidays.
Education is a significant aspect of youth development and Youth Alive desires all its members to strive in their education and excel academically. It is for this reason that we offer an Education Support Program where we provide homework and project assistance, tutoring and an environment to read (books and reading material are provided) during weekdays and weekends
The mentorship training is aimed at equipping and enabling young people to take part in the betterment of their lives and the community. Mentorship address issues such as goal setting, time management, conflict management, communication, healthy living, financial management, relationships, substance abuse, career guidance, basic theology and leadership.
Leadership is a crucial skill to learn in a person’s life both professionally and personally. We believe that the earlier a person develops this skill, the better their life will become. Effective leaders have the ability to communicate well, motivate their peers, listen to feedback, and have the flexibility to solve problems in an ever-changing environment.
YAM runs HIV / AIDS awareness and training for our members, churches, schools and other sectors of civil society. Youth Alive has also, on numerous occasions, given care and support to people infected and affected by HIV / AIDS.
This program consists of two important initiatives. A food kitchen drive: we prepare a nutritious meal for people in our communities. The second initiative is our Food Package distribution where we hand out packages that include the basic necessities to the most needy and broken families.
This initiative is about lending a hand to our schools by providing additional support on educating about HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, career guidance and different work experience.
We collaborate with local churches to assist them in youth development and youth leadership training.
Drugs are crippling our communities, affecting especially our youth’s progress and development. Our Fresh Start Program aims to address this plague by helping recovering addicts to start afresh. We assist by facilitating in the process of getting addicts (both drugs and alcohol) into reputable rehabilitation centres. We also run programs to help them integrate back into the community.
Our youth face a lot of challenges and pressures today more than ever before. It’s our commitment to developing a young people who will be purpose-driven and one who will play a positive role in our society.
