Youth Alive Ministries was founded in 1959 by an American Missionary, Mr Allan Lutz and a South African Mr Jerry Nkosi. In 1960, a centre was built in Dube, Soweto where most of the work was coordinated and this centre is still operating.
YAM is one of the oldest and most successful youth organizations and has played a major role in the development of young people. Over the 60 years we have touched the lives of more than 60 000 young people.
Further, Youth Alive Ministries was registered with South Africa’s Department of Social
Development on 6 May 2004 and can issue letters in terms of Section 18A.
Our aim is to develop young people through various prgrams through which they are enabled to become people of influence and agent of transformation in their communities.
This is achieved through promoting liberal and good values, endorsing a godliness lifestyle, encouraging a commitment to social change, instilling boldness in upholding Christian principles and assisting the youth in making a difference to their communities.
Transformed young people who have become agents of transformation in the church and society.
Youth Alive Ministries is an interdenominational Christian youth development organization that communicates the gospel message to young people in South Africa, in obedience to the biblical command. We do this through holistic programs, in partnership with churches, schools, government, civil society organizations and private sectors.
Our youth face a lot of challenges and pressures today more than ever before. It’s our commitment to developing a young people who will be purpose-driven and one who will play a positive role in our society.
